On Wednesday, August 5, Seton Hall men’s soccer visited the Innovation Hub’s Maker Studio for a creative team-building experience that gave student-athletes the opportunity
to design, create and explore new technology together. Developed in collaboration
with the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center (TLTC) and the men’s soccer coaching staff, the hands-on activity challenged each student-athlete
to create something uniquely their own while discovering the possibilities of digital
    design and fabrication.

Using a template in Adobe Express, the student-athletes designed personalized, jersey-shaped keychains. Each athlete
customized both sides of the keychain before the designs were transferred onto the
material using sublimation printing technology. For some members of the team, the
project also provided their first opportunity to work with Adobe Express.

The project extended beyond the personalized keychains. Working with the Maker Studio
team, the coaching staff also created an aluminum sign featuring the men’s soccer
schedule, providing another example of how the studio’s fabrication technologies can
bring an idea from concept to completion.

The men’s soccer team’s visit is one example of the opportunities available through
the Innovation Hub’s Maker Studio. Located on the ground floor of Walsh Library, the
Maker Studio gives students, faculty and staff access to a range of creative and fabrication
technologies, including 3D printing, laser engraving, CNC machining, robotics, microcontrollers
    and sublimation printing.

“The Maker Studio gives students a place to explore new technologies, develop problem-solving
and critical-thinking skills and learn through hands-on experience,” said Renee  Cicchino,
director of instructional design and training. “With access to innovative tools and guidance from our staff, students can experiment,
take creative risks and transform their ideas into something tangible.”

    Explore the Maker Studio

The Maker Studio is designed to make experimentation approachable. Whether creating
a class project, exploring a personal interest, developing a prototype or learning
a new skill, community members can receive guidance and support while bringing ideas
    to life.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to explore the possibilities available through
the Innovation Hub’s Maker Studio. From hands-on workshops to independent projects, the studio offers tools, re building and learning
