New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Thursday launched a 12-week Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy programme for around 2,741 students of Classes IX to XII across nine NDMC schools.
The programme, launched by NDMC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi in collaboration with the Centre for Policy Research & Governance (CPRG) at Navyug School, Sarojini Nagar, aims to familiarise students with generative AI and its practical applications in education and everyday life.
Students will receive training through interactive sessions, live demonstrations and hands-on activities. The curriculum will cover prompt writing, AI-assisted learning, content creation and critical evaluation of AI-generated information.
Speaking at the launch, Dwivedi said the initiative
Speaking at the launch, Dwivedi said the initiative seeks to provide students with an understanding of the changes brought about by AI, the tools driving the technology and their responsible use. He also called on computer teachers and other interested faculty members to participate in the modules to develop a sustainable train-the-trainers model.
He said an advanced AI course would subsequently be introduced for students interested in pursuing higher studies or careers in the field. CPRG Director Ramanand Pandey said the programme would focus on building foundational AI knowledge while enhancing students’ communication and creative skills.
The course will cover data privacy, academic integrity, misinformation, algorithmic bias and deepfakes, concluding with student projects and assessments. Eligible participants will receive joint digital certificates. The initiative aligns with the NEP 2020 to strengthen students’ digital skills.
