Apple has unveiled its fourth-generation Siri Remote, and the good news is that you won’t need to buy a new Apple TV to use it. The updated remote works with every Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K model released since 2015, bringing its biggest new feature to older devices too.
The new Siri Remote costs $59 and is already available to order through Apple’s online store, with deliveries scheduled to begin on 13 November.
The headline upgrade is full Find My support, making it much easier to track down a misplaced remote. Unlike the previous model, the fourth-generation Siri Remote supports Precision Finding, allowing users to follow directional arrows on a compatible iPhone to pinpoint its exact location.
Apple has also added a built-in speaker
Apple has also added a built-in speaker that can play a sound when the remote goes missing. It’s a small but practical addition, particularly for anyone who’s spent far too long searching between sofa cushions.
There is one catch, though. Precision Finding requires an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, or iPhone 17or later, with the iPhone 17e excluded. That means owners of older iPhones won’t be able to take full advantage of the new tracking feature.
As for compatibility, Apple has confirmed that the remote works with the Apple TV HD, along with the first, second, third and fourth-generation Apple TV 4K models. It’s a welcome move for existing users who want the latest remote features without replacing an otherwise perfectly functional streaming box.
Beyond the tracking upgrades, Apple hasn’t changed much
Beyond the tracking upgrades, Apple hasn’t changed much about the hardware. The new Siri Remote retains the same overall design, familiar button layout andUSB-C charging portas its predecessor.
That makes this more of a practical upgrade than a complete redesign. For anyone happy with their current Apple TV, the new remote offers a straightforward way to get better tracking without investing in an entirely new streaming setup.
And at $59, it could be a worthwhile replacement for anyone whose existing Siri Remote has a habit of disappearing.
