Alas, not everything is a winner. The smart home and home-security deals I’ve seen for Home Depot are either not great deals—or they’re on older models or services like Ring that WIRED doesn’t recommend for privacy reasons. Check out WIRED’s Best Tech Labor Day Deals of 2026, or the Best Amazon Labor Day Deals, if this is what you’re after.
But here are the best deals on tools and grills that I’ve found for 2026’s Home Depot Labor Day sale, or check out my colleague Kat Merck’s Labor Day deals guide to getting an excellent tool starter kit for less than $400. You can also browse Home Depot’s Labor Day deals by category, but fair warning: There’s a lot to sift through.

Home Depot Labor Day Grill and Griddle Deals
The steepest Labor Day price cuts are often on grills and griddles. At Home Depot, the best deals are on Traeger’s stock of pellet smokers that offer easy temperature control, but maybe a little less smoke than charcoal or wood cookers. These have the side benefit of maintaining utility through the cool months. In the temperate, four-season Pacific Northwest, I actually far prefer fall to summer as a grill and smoker season.
Discounts include a cool hundo off the basic model of Traeger’s Woodridge smart pellet grill, whose bigger, upgraded version, the Woodridge Pro (8/10, WIRED Recommends), was WIRED’s previous top-pick pellet smoker. Its no-fuss operation and cleaning, sophisticated temperature control, and absolute beastly capacity set it apart. But Home Depot’s steepest discount is on Traeger’s standby, entry-level Pro 22 smoker. We have not tested this recently, but after a dozen years it’s a near-classic, and $390 is the lowest price it’s seen all year.
Other deals among WIRED-recommended grills include $50 off a couple of Weber’s durable, last-you-forever standbys—the Weber Kettle and the Weber Spirit E-210. I and fellow WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson tend to love these two models precisely because they are basic, durable, reliable, and low-cost. The Weber Kettle, especially, can be upgraded with smart features into a temp-controlled, smart-charcoal beast.
This $50 off deal tends to be the standard Weber deal. But the price already starts out affordable, and so the sale price amounts to an excellent value on a grill that’s likely to be with you a while. If you’d like your kettle in green, you can get it for half off, a mere $100.
    Home Depot Milwaukee Tool Deals
Buying power tools is all about picking an ecosystem (and a battery pack). WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson favors Milwaukee for its intersection between reliability and value, and for tentpole sales Home Depot usually offers free battery packs or buy-one-get one deals.
One of the best and most versatile tools Gilbertson recommends is Milwaukee’s excellent impact driver ($179). Lucky you: During the Labor Day sale, this comes free with the purchase of the portable M18 battery you’ll need to operate it wirelessly. If you’ve already got a Milwaukee battery, the BOGO still holds for an assortment of tools including an oscillating multi-tool that’s also one of the more underrated tools in the DIYer home kit.
Home Depot Ryobi Landscaping and Tool Deals
Ryobi is the brand that former WIRED reviewer Parker Hall has consistently recommended for yard and landscaping tools, in large part because of their service philosophy. In many regions including mine (the Pacific Northwest), Ryobi keeps a local repair technician on retainer to come and fix your mower or blower, instead of making you ship your machine to a repair center somewhere. This is clutch, even if you won’t have to use the service often.
Home Depot is offering its usual BOGO battery deals on Ryobi’s landscaping tools, including the heavy-duty leaf blower ($159) you’re going to need sooner than you expect.
For entry-level tool kits, my colleague Kat Merck also recommends this shockingly low-cost starter power tool kit from Ryobi—which is not going to make you the envy of any job site, but offers great value and torque for the money. This set offers a ½-inch drill/driver, an impact driver, a circular saw, and an LED light. There’s also another discount kit with a sander, drill/driver, and circular saw.
    Home Depot DeWalt Tool BOGO
My editor, Kat Merck, is a DeWalt devotee. But the DeWalt Deals are a bit more specialized this season. There’s still a few good BOGO offers, though, especially if you’re in the market for a circular saw or angle grinder, or a hammer drill kit to carve holes into masonry.
