546 Workers Hit, Most Aged Over 40

Oracle’s latest layoffs reached software developers, engineers, managers and data centre staff in its cloud infrastructure business. A document reviewed by Business Insider lists 546 affected employees and their ages, offering a view of the cuts as Oracle expands its AI infrastructure.

What the Oracle Layoff Document Shows

The document covers employees in Oracle’s America Cloud Infrastructure organisation who were laid off and eligible for severance. The 546 names account for about 7.6% of the 7,185 employees listed for that organisation. Oracle said it provided the age information to comply with federal age discrimination laws.

Most of the affected employees were over 40, according to Business Insider’s analysis. About 16% were at least 60. The document does not explain how Oracle selected employees for layoffs, so the age figures alone do not establish why any individual lost their job.

The list also has limits. Business Insider could not determine whether it includes every person laid off from the cloud infrastructure organisation. Oracle has not disclosed the total number of workers affected by its latest round of job cuts
. The 546 employees therefore represent the document’s count, rather than a company-wide layoff total.

Developers, Managers and Data Centre Staff Affected

Software developers made up about 17% of the jobs on the list. Software Developer III had the highest count for a single job title, with 57 employees affected. Program Manager IV and Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer were also among the roles with the most departures.

Management roles accounted for another large share. Business Insider counted 128 eliminated positions with ‘manager’ in the title, or about 23% of the listed cuts. Program manager roles accounted for 61 of those departures across job levels.

Oracle also cut 41 jobs in data centre support services, which handles maintenance and technical support. The affected employees
included the unit’s vice president and two senior directors. Those 41 positions made up about 7.5% of the layoffs recorded in the document.

    What Laid-Off Employees May Receive

A separate internal document reviewed by Business Insider describes severance for eligible workers. It provides four weeks of base pay for the first completed year of service, plus one week for each additional year, up to a maximum of 26 weeks. Employees must meet the terms of the severance agreement to receive payment.

Stock awards follow separate rules. Unvested options and restricted stock units are cancelled when employment ends, while employees retain vested shares. The terms give workers a limited period to exercise vested options. Bonus and commission payments depend on each employee’s compensation plan.

Cuts Come During Oracle’s AI Expansion

Oracle began the latest round of layoffs in September. In a notification viewed by Business Insider, the company described the job cuts as part of a ‘broader organizational change.’ Oracle’s workforce
had already fallen by about 21,000 during the fiscal year that ended May 31, 2026, leaving it with roughly 141,000 employees before the recent cuts.

At the same time, Oracle continues to expand its cloud business. Its latest earnings report showed cloud infrastructure revenue of $7.4 billion for the quarter, up 121% from a year earlier. The growth and the layoffs are occurring together, but Oracle has not provided a role-by-role explanation for the decisions shown in the document.
