A west suburban man has been charged with dozens of counts related to using artificial intelligence to create child sexual abuse material, including altering images of real children into sexually explicit images and videos, authorities said.
Jeremy Batterman, 52, of Campton Township, was charged with the following:

Production of child sexual abuse material, Class 3 felony – 6 counts

Prosecutors allege between Nov. 13, 2025, and May 17, 2026, Batterman used artificial intelligence to produce sexually explicit images and videos of minors under the ages of 13 and 18. Batterman allegedly used AI to alter images of real children and allegedly created entirely AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
Authorities were alerted to Batterman after a tip was received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Charges were filed following a three-month investigation, and Batterman was taken into custody by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 13.
The investigation was conducted by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit and the St. Charles Police Department.
Batterman appeared in court Aug. 14 for a pretrial detention hearing, where a judge ordered him detained pretrial.
His next court date is set for Thursday.
